Mellus, was founder and publisher of the longtime Downriver icon, The Mellus Newspapers.  In addition he is a past member of the Lincoln Park Exchange Club.

Dr. Collins and his wife of 39 years have two daughters and three grandchildren to date.  Dr. Collin's wife is retired from teaching in the Plymouth School System and is busier than when "she worked".  When away from the office, Dr. Collins enjoys golf and the great Northern Michigan summers.
